The positive and negative total handicaps of the team must fall between +4 and -4. Teams whose total Team Computation Factor fall outside these parameters at the close of registration on July 20, 2008 will NOT BE ELIGIBLE to compete. The team Computation Factor is added/subtracted from the team’s gross score for each round of the competition.
Format: On every hole, each team member may hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play. All team members may then hit a shot from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.
Each team member must hit and use a minimum of three tee shots per 18 hole round. The scorecard should be marked with the initials of the player whose tee shot was chosen. Each team member may place her ball within one club length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole.
If the selected shot is played from a hazard, bunker, rough or fringe of the green, the ball may be placed within one club-length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole, but it must remain in the hazard, bunker, rough, or fringe of the green. When putting, the ball must be placed within one putter head length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole.
Once the ball is holed out, no further strokes are permitted. Team members may stand behind one another (on an extension of the line of play or putt) while they are making a stroke or putting.
Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. Since scramble play is not recognized in the Rules of Golf, the SBWO rules and guidelines governing scramble play are an attempt to fairly apply the Rules of Golf to the scramble format. The SBWO rules and guidelines are not intended to alter or revise the Rules of Golf.
Pace of Play: Players shall play without undue delay. There will be 2 Marshalls and a Rules Official on each course. The Marshalls will endeavor to keep up the pace of play. Following 2 warnings, a Marshall has the authority to put a foursome “on the clock”. A 2 stroke penalty may be assessed for slow play when warranted. Our intention is not to be punitive but to keep the tournament fair and competitive for everyone.
Substitutions: Substitution will be considered for conditions that arise after registration into the tournament. Every effort must be made to find a substitute player to complete your 4 player team. Within 5 days of the tournament, if an
emergency arises which prevents one competitor from playing and that team is unable to find an appropriate substitute, the team may compete with a 3-woman team as long as they were already registered and eligible to play as a 4-woman team. The Team Computation Factor will be recalculated using the indexes of the three players and the +4/-4 parameters will be disregarded. Four drives will be required from each of the three players. A letter of request must be sent to the SBWO Tournament director. The rules committee reserves the right to disallow a 3-woman team when appropriate.
